My PT uses this pad (so it gets a serious workout every day) so I purchased one for my home use. I'm very happy with it, especially after looking for a smaller pad for travel and seeing that most less expensive brands seem to have limited to no temperature control options. With this one, I can set a precise temp by degree (113-167), so I'm able to use different temps for different body parts, whatever feels good (my range is ~140-155). I can't imagine taking it all the way to 167--that would be quite hot!I've owned this pad about 6 months and have used it frequently, for both lower back pain (fractured vertebra) and currently 2-3 times/day before home PT/OT exercises for recent wrist fracture and surgery. It always performs perfectly: emits moist heat and holds consistent temperature. It's somewhat weighted so stays in place and flexible to wrap around wrist or other body parts as needed. The soft, felt-like, washable cover is 60/40 cotton/poly, and the moistness is just "there" (not sure how it does that!), i.e., it doesn't require wetting some sort of insert or anything else. The 30-minute auto shut-off is not a problem for me, since I typically don't need longer than that: only 10 mins per session to prep wrist for exercises, and 30 minutes is enough to ease back pain. It gives a single quiet beep both when it reaches temperature (takes about 30 secs to a minute, depending on temp setting) and when it shuts off, so if I happen to want it for longer, when it beeps off I just hit the start/power button again and it maintains temperature.Worth the higher price (you get what you pay for)--hIghly recommend.
