I bought these for a 'permanent' install in my attic. I didn't modify the wiring or anything, but instead, decided to install switched receptacles in the attic and just leave these plugged in all the time. My house is relatively small, so I bought two strands and was able to cover the entire space without leaving any dark areas. So now when I need to go up in the attic, I just flip the switch and the whole space lights up from end to end! They are so bright, you can't even really look directly at them. They do run a little warm, but if you install them as instructed, there's enough space to allow the heat sinks on top do their jobs.The build quality is also really nice. They feel heavy duty and I assume they will last a super long time; especially with my limited use.
