First, the string of lights is very bright. I would estimate each bulb at close to 75W (incandescent). Strung down the middle, I used one string in a 40' shipping container, and it lights up the whole thing. Bulbs, or rather the housings are sturdy too. Trying to restring them higher, I dropped the whole string less one bulb from about 4 feet onto wood flooring. Later, I dropped two individual lights from about 6 feet. They survived with no issues. That said, I have two issues, and I considered dropping a star for them, but the lights are so bright, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. First, the strand is not 50'. It might be 50' in total, but the distance the lights cover is not 50', it is 40'. The lights are 10' apart, but since there are 5 of them, they are only spanning a total of 40'. That being said, if you were lighting up a 50' long area and started the lights 5' from each end, it would still provide plenty of light. Second, the cord to the first light is too short. I didn't measure it, but hanging from the ceiling, the cord will not reach a standard outlet (12" high). So I have to use and extension cord for maybe 2-3 feet... really annoying. Finally, not sure if its a complaint yet or not, but the bulb covers get fairly hot quickly. I thought the advantage of LED lights was that they didn't waste energy producing heat... guess not.
